On Yputube tonight, I got board and searched Hockey fights. it was entertaining. then i just thought ice, Canada, it all pieced together; curling.
It looks like three things combine:
1.shuffleboard
2.bowling
3.SWEEPING THAT KITCHEN FLOOR BECAUSE SOMEONE WANTS TO ROCK-AND-ROOL SOMEMORE.

It's actually just shuffle board on ice. Awesome sport, used to be quite good at it in highschool.
The ice is dimpled, so the sweeping is used to stop the rock from curling (moving in a curved line as it moves down the ice). Sweeping also removes miniscule bits of debris from the ice, allowing the rock to move a little faster.

Hey, Lucas - itt's actually made of granite and is called "the rock" or "the stone." They also weigh about 40lbs each...quite heavy. Inexperienced curlers often damage the ice by dropping them when releasing them from "the hack."
