Today, the boys got into a fight because Kyle had eaten almost all the toaster strudel. Lucas had only gotten to eat two pastries out of the two boxes I had bought. There come six in a box. Kyle had eaten the other ten.
Lucas got mad and started yelling and name calling. Kyle shook his head, shrugged shoulders with an air of misguided teenage superiority, and whined, "what did I do?"
That's when the fists began flying.
I snapped that they were both wrong.
Kyle was wrong for his lack of consideration by being a strudel hoarder.
Lucas was wrong for assuming that I had bought the last two boxes of toaster strudel on the planet.
I have mediated this argument before. The food in question usually varies from Pop Tarts to cereal to popsicles. But the end result is always the same: I buy more.
When will they ever learn?!??!?!??

I would say you have it pretty easy. Growing up, my sister and I used to be at each other's throats ALL THE TIME!
When I started college, she started working at the same place I did. I ended up being her boss and she would always smart off to me. I would end up calling my mom to tell her to come and get her before I fired her! Or something worse happened! We just never got along.
I'd make them both eat plain oatmeal until they appreciate their strudel, but then again, I'm a meanie who probably should never have children. That said, if they were my nephews instead of my children, I'd just give them both cookies and be done with it. That's what uncles are for. Come to think of it, I think I did let my nephews eat cookies for breakfast once.
Craig--
I know I have it easy. I just hate it when they have the SAME fights over the SAME trivialities that always end the SAME way: with Lucas slamming doors, Kyle cussing, me doing shots, and Quinton patching drywall.
Christopher--
I'm not sure that will work. They LIKE oatmeal. But cookies for breakfast? Never mind the kids, can I come over? :-)
I usually also have cocktails for my lovely overworked sister who has two children, so I see no reason I couldn't do the same for my long-lost overworked twin sister with two children! Cookies and cocktails...woo-hoo!
OK, I will meet Val at your house Christopher. Val can have the cookies, and we can do the cocktails. Sounds like a good plan! LOL

That's probably just as well. Bad things happen when I get drunk. Or good things, depending on who you are. :-)~
